About The Role

We’re hiring a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer to work with a globally recognized nonprofit knowledge platform through PartnerHero. This organization builds secure, high-performance API services that help other companies access and repurpose public knowledge content. Their mission is to improve the experience of readers worldwide and expand the reach of open content across platforms and services.

You will join a small, agile, and cross-functional team working on high-impact tools used by global organizations. The role involves QA, technical support, and occasional engineering work. It’s a great fit for someone detail-oriented, curious, and eager to grow in both support and automation testing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and drive them through to resolution.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs, ensuring they are fixed effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide engineering support through email and ticketing systems, with occasional voice communication when needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure complete test coverage.
  • Build and maintain a reliable framework for testing APIs.
  • Develop and execute test plans and various test types, including functional, performance, and security.
  • Analyze test results and work with the development team to prioritize improvements.
  • Translate technical needs into clear language for business stakeholders and customer-facing teams.
  • Create and maintain internal documentation, test reports, and the broader testing roadmap.
  • Participate in customer meetings and contribute technical insights when needed.
  • Share feedback to improve the usability and overall user experience of the product.
  • Support ongoing engineering tasks assigned by the Senior Engineering Manager.

What We Expect From You:

  • Comfortable working in a semi-ambiguous environment and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Experienced in supporting complex web applications on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
  • Familiar with Node.js and Go applications, with a solid grasp of backend development practices.
  • Skilled in automating and streamlining engineering tasks and workflows.
  • Proficient in scripting languages commonly used in SRE or Operations contexts, such as Python, Go, Bash, or Ruby.
  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems, with effective debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Clear and confident communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to work independently in a globally distributed team.
  • Relevant education or equivalent hands-on experience in a technical role.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality results within small, collaborative, cross-functional teams.
  • Communicates precisely and thoroughly across both synchronous and asynchronous channels.
  • Demonstrates empathy for customers and a strong sense of ownership in resolving their needs.
  • Capable of translating complex technical information into simple, accessible language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented when following instructions and executing tasks accurately.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn and grow independently.
  • Experienced in cloud-based environments, with familiarity in AWS being a plus.
  • Aware of data privacy laws and compliance standards, and mindful of these considerations in testing and development.
  • Interested in or experienced with data analysis and applying insights to improve product performance.

What You’ll Get In Return:

  • Full-time with the potential for overtime if requested
  • Work type - Hybrid model
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Attractive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision options based on location
  • Access to free posture-based fitness workouts from home
  • Paid Sabbatical Leave
  • Training opportunities provided by PartnerHero and outside entities
  • 1-on-1 coaching with feedback sessions, mentorship, and opportunities for cross-functional development
