The Role
We are looking for an experienced moderator with a passion for protecting children to be a Trust & Safety Content Moderator. In this highly impactful role, you are part of a global team that ensures the timely review and reporting of online child endangerment content, such as child sexual abuse and exploitation. This includes independently and manually reviewing and labeling a high volume of time-sensitive escalations and child endangerment incidents to protect our client’s online community. Critical to this role is a resilience and commitment to self-care emotional well-being, and the ability to self-advocate.
Important Note: The Content Moderator role may be exposed to harmful content as part of their core day-to-day responsibilities, as well as in project work or in response to escalations. This harmful content may include (but not be limited to) child abuse; bestiality; sexual assault; torture; and murder.
What you’ll do:
- Conduct reviews of user-generated content that includes child sexual abuse, exploitation, and other material that could be considered offensive or disturbing.
- Make classification/reporting decisions consistent with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) guidelines.
- Follow instructions, apply guidelines, and work independently.
- Reporting discrepancies in processes, and potential process improvements to the Team Leads and upper management.
- Work within a team, communicating effectively with colleagues.
- Attend regular team meetings and other relevant meetings.
- Provide expert feedback to teammates, Managers, and others within the company.
- At least 1 year of experience in Content Moderation, with experience moderating offensive and disturbing content.
- Strong computer navigational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and follow-up skills.
- Strong work ethic and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven experience in overcoming unexpected difficulties and using logical problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable making decisions with limited information available.
- Familiarity with NCMEC reports and the TechCoalition’s industry classification system is a plus.
