About the Role:
An Accounting Lead plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of financial operations within a dynamic payment solutions environment. This role is focused on monitoring money movement, performing reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities. It also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, enhance operational controls, and improve the overall customer payment experience. By contributing to initiatives that simplify payment acceptance, disbursement, and management, the Senior Accounting Specialist helps drive operational excellence and supports the transformation of outdated systems into modern, efficient solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor daily money movement activities, systems, and triaging alerts to provide insights and recommendations to improve accuracy and efficiency of settlements and disbursements.
- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Monitor and apply customer collections and settlements of AR when necessary.
- Manage and triage tickets submitted to the Revenue Operations team.
- Handle month-end and year-end closing activities: invoicing customers, preparing backup, journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis.
- Investigate and resolve issues within the reconciliation system through problem-solving and collaboration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, automate workflows, and strengthen cash movement operations.
- Participate in financial systems/process improvement projects to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure risk controls and segregation of duties are followed to mitigate risks.
- Maintain strong relationships with data providers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop documentation and ensure consistency in accounting and financial processes.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide timely updates on relevant issues.
What We Expect From You
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
4–5 years of relevant experience (FinTech/Payments background is an advantage).
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong understanding of accounting operations, GAAP principles, and money movement processes.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables, VBA, etc.).
Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and reconciliation accuracy.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Outstanding verbal and written communication.
Mindset & Attitude:
Proactive, curious, and eager to learn new tools, systems, and processes.
Able to address challenges, ask questions, and follow up on open items to ensure timely resolution.
Team player with the ability to collaborate across functions.
